Good news friend, your content doesn’t need to be unique, it just needs to add value.
Let me explain.
I’m a big F1 racing fan.
After a race I’ll watch the post race interviews and analysis. Later that day I’ll read reports online, usually over two or three websites. Then if I see a story on the sports pages of the newspaper, I’ll read that too.
It’s the same basic information presented in a different way, with a different angel, over and over again.
And I’m not the only person/freak who enjoys this repetition.
Look at the newspapers. The same information presented in a slightly different way.
Why? Because we each connect with different people, different styles, different formats.
There isn’t one person who writes about each thing. There isn’t ONE authority (imagine how boring that would be). There are many people writing content about the same topic, each with their own experience and background and audience.
Not Unique, But Not The Same Either
Your blog post doesn’t need to be a never-seen-before masterpiece of uniqueness. But that doesn’t mean you can just quickly copy and paste someone else’s work.
Firstly, that’s bad manners.
Secondly, Google does not like to include in its search results, pages that contain duplicate content.
“Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar.” - Taken from Google Webmasters Duplicate Content Guide.
Yes, that’s a word play that’s been done before, but I just couldn’t help myself.
You are already unique.
Be you. Squeeze plenty of you-ness into your blog post. Then your content will be unique, even if the topic isn’t.
