June 2021 Working Time And Income Report

For a little background on why I’m sharing my income and working hours publicly head over to Part 1 - Income & Hours Report for January 2021.

The short version is…..I started muttering to myself ‘if I could work more hours, I could make more money’ and that mantra was unhelpful because I don’t want to work more hours, and I don’t have any more spare hours floating around that I could use for work anyway.

So instead I am asking myself ‘what’s possible with a working time budget of 20 hours per week’.

Worditude Ltd Income For June 2021

What that income was made up of:

  • £4305 on 1-1 copywriting, coaching and conversion boost consults
  • £527 on courses - mostly remaining payments from the Summer round of Write Your Websit

  • £7.40 affiliate commission

Laura’s Working Hours In June 2021

There were 4.4 working weeks in June, which means I worked an average of around 28 hours each week - eeeeek - no wonder the house looks like such a mess. I haven’t stopped working long enough to clean anything! And to be fair when I’m not working, we’ve been at the beach….and sometimes when I am working, I have jacked it in so we can go to the beach. If I Toggl time-tracked ‘beach’ that would feature quite heavily on the report.

Write Your Website Summer 2021

I absolutely loved running this and am looking forward to the next round which starts on 13th September. This was the first time I’d run the programme with the new materials on MemberVault* and the feedback was fab. And the website copy the students wrote was great - so validating to know my step-by-step process really does help people write their own copy.
These are one-off consultations where I investigate someone’s website and look for ideas to make it easier for them to sell their services, courses, programmes or membership. I record all my feedback via video and put it into a report too - which means we don’t have to coordinate diaries and attend a call. I work through this in my own time, in a way that suits me and I know that the insights I’m giving is going to make then £0000s in sales in the future. It is definitely Zone of Genius work. And I’m hopeful that these will lead on to Write Your Website sales. The consults are £97, and anyone who books one before September 10th will be invited onto the next live round of Write Your Website, at a reduced rate of £298 (taking the £97 they’ve already paid for the Consult off the price of £395). I’ll report back next month if there’s been any success with that.

I changed the name of this too. It was ‘Conversion Review’…but nobody wants a review, everybody wants a boost!

Sales Funnel Set Up, Experimentation and Adjustment

Everything I’ve ever learned about Facebook Ads told me to NOT set Traffic or Engagement as a Campaign Objective to a cold audience (one who hasn’t interacted with your website or social accounts), or you’ll end up attracting the attention of all the wrong people - getting low-quality clicks from people who were unlikely to ever buy from you.

But - I thought - what if I very carefully only target people who like Facebook pages that indicate a very good match to my ideal audience…..

So I did…

And it was a hilarious waste of money. Luckily only a waste of about £30 before I realised this campaign was not going to recover and it was time to ditch it.

My plan had been to drive cold traffic to an entertaining, value-packed social post.

Once that cold traffic had clicked to see the images or expand the text, they would come into a warm audience. And another Facebook ad would be targeted at that audience to take them to my new opt-in Conversion Crushers.

This did not work.

I could tell it was not working by checking out the profiles of the people who were liking and commenting on my ad. I strongly recommend you do this if you have ads running. Focus on WHO not HOW MANY.

So my new plan is to use Facebook Ads for a Conversion campaign to the Conversion Crushers opt-in, using a cold look-a-like audience (Facebook uses what it knows about my existing audience to target new people).

I’m also adjusting the ad and landing page for Conversion Crushers to make it more clearly for people selling their expertise as 1-1 services, courses, programmes and memberships, rather than ‘small businesses’.

Plans For July

I’ve been torn about how to fill the spaces for Write Your Website in September.

I *almost* bought an expensive course that showed me how to do it… and then I didn’t.

I want to give interested persons plenty of time to organise their diaries so they have space to do the work - so it makes sense to start selling the places now - but then there’s no urgency.

But if I do a big launch with a free live event, or potentially a live round of Irresistible Offers (which is excellent preparation for Write Your Website), I risk reaching September as a worn-out empty shell, which won’t make the actual programme very much fun for anyone.

I am enjoying selling the same thing over and over again so I get to experiment with this though.
